He was predeceased by: his parents, José Olivarez and Alicia Olivarez (Paez); his siblings, Roberto Olivarez, Ester Estella Olivarez, Alma Nellie "Molly" Villa and Willie; his sisters-in-law, Cira Olivares and Carol Olivares; his great grandchild Annalise Josephine Olivarez; Ezekiel Acevedo.

He is survived by: his wife Ofelia Campbell; his children, Robert "Bob" (Rebecca "Becky" Olivarez), Gilbert "Danny" (Grace Olivarez), Hilda Rodriguez (Olivarez) and Patrick (Maria Olivarez); and his siblings, Connie Montez (Jesse), Ernie Olivarez (Jane), Eugene Olivares (Jean), Salvador Olivarez (Alicia) and Sam Olivarez (Patricia). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and many special nephews, and nieces.
