He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Sonntag and Mary Agnes Gavit Sonntag; his father-in-law John M. Sullivan Jr.; his nephew Nicholas Trombley; and his brother-in-law John Loessel.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Ann Sonntag (Sullivan); his children, Kelly Sobol (Blake) and Kevin Sonntag (Kristy); his grandchildren, Tanner James Sobol, Beckett Abram Sobol, Jackson James Sonntag and Ella Rose Sonntag; his mother-in-law Theodora "Teddy" Sullivan; his brothers, Bob Sonntag (Sue) and David Sonntag (Mary Kay); and his siblings-in-law, Mary Loessel, Carol Trombley (Dave), John Sullivan III (Mary), Mark Sullivan (Vickie), Maureen Sullivan, Tom Krupnek, Julie Grau (Jim), Matt Sullivan (Cecelia), Bridgid VonKronenberger (Kim) and Luke Sullivan (Diana). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
