He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Mertz and Hilda Mertz (Meyer); and his sister Janet Cantu. He is survived by: his spouse Lou Ellen Beuthin; his children, Tarah Woodberg (Brad), Graham Mertz (Kimberly) and Chelsea Bierlein (Jared); and his granddaughters, Avery, Lydia, Harper, Mia, Sawyer, Finley and Elle.
