He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernestine Satterwhite and John Franklin; his siblings, Alice Satterwhite, Dora Nowell, Sarah Nettles, Mary Louise Frankin, Jim Satterwhite, Albert Franklin and Willie C. Franklin; and his aunt Annie Bell Franklin.

He is survived by: his siblings, Minnie Reese of Saginaw, MI, Lizzie Thompson of Saginaw, MI, Inell Hicks of Alabama and Billy Jack Portis of Alabama; his aunts, Lizzie Moore, Lillie Faulk, Julia Humphrey and Charlesmae Thompson; his uncle Henry Lee Franklin of Saginaw; and his close friend Reilly Browder.
