She was predeceased by: her parents, Ignatius Birkner and Anna Birkner (Roza); her husband Melvin Schmidt; her son Richard Schmidt; her son-in-law Jeffrey Hoppe; her siblings, Julia, Betty, Helen and Alec; and her brother-in-law Ronald.
She is survived by: her daughters, Betty Anderson (Richard), Brenda Smith (Gerald) and Kimberly Hoppe; her daughter-in-law Verlyn; and her sister Annette Gotham. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
