He was predeceased by: his parents, Queenie Floyd Wooten (Buddy) and George Gaymon; his siblings, James, J. B. Floyd, Lillie Mae Harris, Mary-Sue Floyd, Mae-Ella Stewart and Johnnie Mae Wooten; and his mother-in-law J. P. Wilson.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon M. Wilson Floyd; his children, Shirley Ann Floyd of Indianapolis, IN, Tenisha Dillard and Melvin P.; his grandchildren, Dina Ford, Dena Lewis, De'Ara Jackson and Christian S. Barkley; his sister-in-law Gwendolyn P. Wilson; his goddaughters, Shaneditha L. Butler, LaGrange and Alliecia L. Butler; his nephew Walter "Pookie" Harris (Dorothy); his niece Kim "Candy" Rogers; and his close friends, Philip Drake, Joe Wyatt, Douglas Lane and Marvin T. Smith. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

This endeavor laid the foundation for his lawncare business until his health would no longer allow him to continue.
