He was predeceased by: his parents, Keith Bird and Doris Bird (Thon); his brother James Bird; his parents-in-law, Clarence and Huldah Kackmeister; and his nephew Mark Myers.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Bird; his children, Robin Scherting (Jeff), Stacy Lahaie (Matt) and Melisa Bernelis (Tom); his grandchildren, Zach Scherting (Alex), Jessica Kanyo (Mike), Becca Scherting, Chelsea Salas (Aaron), Ben Ott, Jake Bird, Lindsey Bernelis (Dennis) and Eve Bernelis; his great grandchildren, Zeb and Shep; his grandchildren, Ranger, Trace Kanyo, Hunter, Izzy Salas, Layne, Lilly and Dennis Bernelis; and his siblings-in-law, Barb Redburn (Kirk), Nancy and Ronald Meyers. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and neighbors.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Peace Lutheran Church (3427 Adams Ave, Saginaw, MI 48602). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
