He was predeceased by: his parents, Gabriel Austin and Pearl Castille Austin; his children, Mary Frances McDonald, Darrell K. White (Jaffee), Sierra Ashe (Phil) and Nia Elizabeth White; his grandson Pastor Marcelle Smith (Jennifer); his brother James E. Jackson; his close friends, Lucille Surles (Buddy), Dr. Robert Taylor (Winifred), Terry Pruitt (Carolyn), Reverend, Marvin T. Smith (Omie), Willie Ervin (Angenetta), Mary Currie, Elizabeth Woods, Louise Archer and Pastor Rodrick A. Smith (Irma); and his son Roosevelt Austin II.

He is survived by: his son Dr. David W. Austin (Doris Taylor); his daughter-in-law Debra Austin of Saginaw, MI; his great grandchild Nia Marie Bigby of Milwaukee, WI; and his sister-in-law Isabella Austin of Opelousas, LA.
