He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Kania and Joyce Kania (Treanor); his sister Cindy Herr; his brothers-in-law, Henry Rohde and Rick Gilbert; and his father-in-law Brad Hanson.

He is survived by: his wife Lori Kania (Hanson). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
