He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Scotella and Mary Scotella (Cupolo); his son Mark Scotella; Antonette Scarpelli (Johnny), Patrick Scotella (Leona), James Scotella (Wanda) and Victoria Brown (Doug).
He is survived by: his wife Mariangela "Che Che" Scotella (Colangelo); his daughter Rosemarie Kolanowski (Joe); and his grandsons, Mark and Joseph Kolanowski. He is also survived by the youngest of five siblings.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Sam's memory.
