He was predeceased by : his parents, Theodore Barthel and Jessie Barthel; and his wife Kristine Karp-Barthel. He is survived by : his children, Darcia A. Callaghan (Brian), Lisa M. Rybak (Tom) and Theodore M. Barthel III (Dawn); his grandsons, Patrick Rybak, Scott Rybak and Benjamin Barthel; his brother David G. Barthel (Pamela); and his former life partner Cynthia Barthel Hamlin (Curtiss).
