He is survived by: his children, Gregory Mortensen (Brenda) of Traverse City, Kathryn Mayer (Rich) of Grand Haven, Michael Mortensen of St. Ignace, Debra Gibson (Ross) of Somerset, Carl Matthew Mortensen Jr. of St. Ignace and Christopher Mortensen (Rochele) of St. Ignace; his grandchildren, Joshua Mortensen (Holly), Amy Conner (Phil), Kari Natale (Thomas Jr.), Kyle Mayer (Laura), Dennis Sorenson (Melisa), Kaili Miklusicak (Nolan), Gerrit Mortensen (Molly), Dane Mortensen (Alexis), Regan Mortensen, Alexander Gibson (Martina) and Christopher Gibson; his brother Clint Stauffer (Barbara); his siblings-in-law, Betty Sorrels and Peter Christensen; and his friends, Peter Willett and Jack Laver. He is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
