He was predeceased by: his father Raymond Cyrus; his wife Sally Crowell; his mother Irene Pope (Georgia); his brothers, Lyle Pope and Raymond Pope, Jr.; and his son Denny Cole.

He is survived by: his children, Ross (Carrie Pope), Julie (Tom Manzagol) and Mark Pope of St. Johns, MI; his close friend Janet Taylor of St. Johns, MI; his grandchildren, Aidan Pope, Meg Pope, Jack Pope, Caroline Pope, Henry Pope, Mitch and Tate Manzagol; and his brother Jim Pope of Flint, MI..
