James A. Lemmers Obituary
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Jame's life will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m., at the Mattawan Community Church, 23680 Front St. Mattawan, MI 49071, with Rev. Jonathan Lam officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service. A private interment will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mattawan Community Church, c/o the funeral home.
Age 90, passed away at Caretel Inns Assisted Living in St. Joseph, MI, on May 2, 2025. James was born in Kalamazoo, MI, on July 2, 1934, the son of the late Anthony and Bernice (Herrema) Lemmers. James proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a man of faith and integrity. He was a member of Mattawan Community Church and was formerly a long-time member of Trinity Reformed Church in Kalamazoo. On November 12, 1965, he married the love of his life, Glenda (Hiser) Lemmers who preceded him in passing in 2023. Together they made their home in Lawton and worked hard raising their children. James was employed by the Brundage Company for more than thirty-one years. When not working he enjoyed traveling and took several trips throughout the United States and abroad. He loved spending time at the family home on Huzzy Lake and always looked forward to spending the winter months in Florida and Arizona. He stayed active and had many hobbies including RC Airplanes, riding motorcycles, and singing in the Kalamazoo Male Chorus. James loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived. His smile, firm handshake will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by two sons, Mark (Katie) Lemmers and Scott (Dominique) Lemmers; three grandchildren, Mallory, Casey, and Brett; two Godchildren, Kristian Owsiany and Melissa Meade; extended family and friends.
