He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Manning and Gertrude Naomi Barber (Rutledge); his daughter Erin Kristen Sykes (Barber); his sister Lynn "Bonnie" Retik (Barber); his brother-in-law Dr. Alan Retik; and his nephew David Retik.
He is survived by: his wife Mercedes K. Brousseau; his daughter Aimee Vantine (Kirk); his son-in-law Jeremy Miller; his grandchildren, Samantha, Ethan Manning, Madailein, Emma and Lindsey; and his sister Judith Sanick. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of Huron Valley, 3100 Cherry Hill Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48105, from where several of Stephen's beloved dogs found their forever homes.
