He was predeceased by: his parents, Rollie Koester and Grace Koester (Gottschalk); and his brother Mike. He is survived by: his children, Carrie Gerrild (Kyle), Paul McDevitt (Merredith), Mark Koester, Chris McDevitt (Jill), Angi Spees (Jason) and Mike McDevitt (Christina); and his siblings, Rick, Karis, Sandy, Patti and Jim. He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Countryside Free Methodist Church or United Hospice Service in Marlette, Mi for assisting in his peaceful passing.
