With sadness, we share the passing of Josephine Kay Platte of Saranac, Michigan. Josephine, born on March 19, 2023 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away on October 3, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Josephine for her warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. While she will be deeply missed, the influence she had on the lives around her remains. Loved ones will reflect on the time spent together. She was predeceased by: her grandmother Shelly (Rau). She is survived by: her parents, Chase Platte and Alanah Platte (Lani); her sister Kaira; and her grandparents, Scott, Dana Platte of Westphalia and Russell Rau of Holly. She is also survived by many great grandparents, aunts, uncles and loving cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lake Funeral Home (3521 S State Rd, Ionia, MI 48846). The lying in state will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Mary Catholic Church (201 N Westphalia St, Westphalia, MI 48894). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the St. Mary's Parish Hall (201 N Westphalia St, Westphalia, MI 48894).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests the donation of a children's book, which will be donated in Josie's honor to children in need.
