It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael John Tazelaar of Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, who passed away on June 19, 2025, at the age of 61, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his father Paul Steinkohl; his son Michael Steinkohl Jr.; his sister Dawn Steinkohl; his grandparents, Orval and Delphine Dietz; and his aunts and uncles, Elvin "Sonny" Dietz (Margaret), Elizabeth Clark (Alford), Mary Poole (Forrest), Orval Dietz, Rita Dale (Bill), William Dietz and Anita Steinkohl.
He is survived by: his mother Barbara Steinkohl (Dietz) of Sault Ste; his wife Alicia Tazelaar of Sault Ste; his children, Nicole Steinkohl (Denzel Hampton) of Kennesaw and Miles Tazelaar of Mahwah; his stepson Takoda Hauri (Marie) of Sault Ste; his grandchildren, Joshua Sanchez of Las Vegas, Silverio Sanchez of Kennesaw and Isabella Hampton of Kennesaw, Georgia; his siblings, Paul Steinkohl (Charity Zimmerman) of Sault Ste, Sherrie Lucas (Allen) of Sault Ste, Roger Steinkohl (Heidi) of Sault Ste, Anthony Rogers of Sault Ste, Barbara Rogers (Kyle Slater) of Sault Ste, Jay Tazelaar (Cara) of Sault Ste, Paul Rogers of Sault Ste, Marie and Michel Steinkohl of North Carolina; his aunts and uncles, Elisabeth Dietz (Harvey Bell) of Sault Ste, Marie, Leah VanAman (Tom) of Ohio, Howard Steinkohl of New Jersey and Richard Steinkohl of New York; and his nephews, Michael McLeod and Allie Rogers. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Family Life Funeral Homes - Sault Ste (4951 M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783). A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 27th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Family Life Funeral Home (4951 M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783).
