He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert and Bettie (Messer). He is survived by: his wife Jennifer; his daughters, Katie Podar (Noelle) and Rachel Batzold (Scott); his grandchildren, Matthew, Madeline and Emma; his brother Lonny (Laura); and his sisters-in-law, Rebecca Berner (Jim) and Karen Spanopolous. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
