He was predeceased by : his parents, Wilfred Scholz and Dorothy Scholz (Schim); his wife Geraldine Scholz; his former life partner Gertrude Scholz; and his grandsons, Nicholas and Ryan Smith.

He is survived by : his daughters, Gloria Smith (Steve), Gwen DuCharme (Bob) and Gayle Malesky (Michael); his stepchildren, Jim Pohl (Teri) and Nancy Mitchell (John); his grandchildren, Jeremy Smith (Alyssa), Stephanie Stephenson (Billy), Erik (Angie Caceres), Aaron (Shyanne), Laura DuCharme (Paul Blankemeyer), Tyler Alcantara (Rachel Ban), Siena Scott (Josh), Micah Alcantara (Tyler Meredith), Isabella, Olivia Malesky, Brittany Genova and Brian Genova (Samantha); his great grandchildren, Lane, Miles Smith, Esther, Nicodemus Scott, Addilyn Stephenson, Paisley and Chloe'DuCharme; and his sisters, Joan Dunn (Dennis) and Marilyn Holladay (late William).
