He was predeceased by: his father Camiel; his wife Cheryl Vantiegham; his son Vincent Vantiegham; and his sister Maureen Knoll (Dennis). He is survived by: his children, John M. Vantiegham II, Renee Leach (Shane), Richard Vantiegham (Jessica), Brandie Bales (Dennis), Donna Pointer, James Turski (Kate), William Turski (Sandra) and Michael Turski (Andrea); and his siblings, Sharon Bonello (Joseph), Rick Vantiegham (Lynda), Mary Anne DeLaurier (Dennis), Patricia Watters (Dave), Anne Marie Pemberton (Tom), Theresa Riley (Shaun) and Robert Vantiegham. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
