He was predeceased by: his parents, William Eugene and Mary Baranek (Szalapata); his former wife Shirley Anne Baranek; his son Donald Baranek; and his siblings, Eugene Baranek (Maria) and Delphine Baranek.
He is survived by: his wife MaryAnn Baranek (Grych) of Shelby Township; his sons, Michael Baranek of Shelby Township and Robert Baranek of Shelby Township; his stepdaughters, AnneMarie Gavlinski (James) of Shelby Township and Donna Coder (Thomas) of Sterling Heights; his grandson Leander Baranek of Germany; and his stepgrandchildren, Ryan, Zac, Michael, Shayne, Matthew and Keri. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made in Lou's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
