He is survived by: his children, Candy Thorne (Bill) of White Cloud, Deborah Rios of Stanton, Gina Rios of Rapid River, Gus Rios (Treasa) of Sheridan, Willy Rios of Martinsville and Kevin Rios (Chris Jensen) of Stanton; his grandchildren, Dawn Hermann (Steve), William Thorne II, Autumn Fulton (William), Kenneth Thorne (Lashada), Matthew Manley (Tardeda), James Thorne, Timothy Rios (Dani), Thomas Thorne, Lisa Noland, Logan Rios, Blake Hollenbaugh and Mackenna Rios; his siblings, Mery Gonzalez (Heraquio) of Puerto Rico, Herminio Rios (Milangro) of Puerto Rico and Minerva Negron (Jose) of Puerto Rico; his siblings-in-law, Gene, Kate King and Barb Rios; his friends, Mercedes Guise, Joan Myers and Tom Barnwell; his grandchildren, Misti, Chloe and Tony; his brothers, Antonio Rios, Carmelo Rios and Clodo Rios; and his sister-in-law Cheri Rios. He is also survived by his many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.

Gus's gardens flourished with garlic instead of flowers, reflecting his practical creativity and the unmistakable aroma that became part of his unique charm.
