He was predeceased by : his parents, Glenn Harold and Blanche Evelyn Johnston (Ely) of South Haven; his brother Zane Johnston of Midland, MI; and his brothers-in-law, Tony Schut and Michael Hough.

He is survived by : his wife Donna Johnston; his children, Christopher Johnston of South Haven and Kimberley Eastman (Carl) of Fennville; his grandchildren, Seth Eastman (Hunter), Alyssa Eastman (Andrew Biederman) and Torey Noora (Chris); his great grandchildren, Carter Eastman, Emery and Zara Noora; his sisters-in-law, Delores Schut, Peggy Hough and Sharon McNeal; and his nephew Joseph Schut (Ann).
