She was predeceased by: her husband Dr. Norman Rotter; her sibling Bunny Band; her parents, Herman Band and Dorothy Band Cooperman; and her parents-in-law, Roy and Sylvia Rotter.

She is survived by: her sons, Dr. Steven Rotter (Lisa), Michael Rotter (Tara) and David Rotter (Holly); her grandsons, Dr. Jacob Rotter (Michelle Sheyman), Maxwell Rotter (Hannah), Daniel Rotter, Mitchell Rotter and Jack Henry Lowenstein; and her siblings, Judith Komer (Richard) and Dr. Jeffrey Band (Meredith Weston). She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

“I am so sorry to hear about Harriet's passing. In 1972, I started law school at the University of Detroit School of Law. Due to a requirement of active duty with my Army Reserve unit, I was forced to miss my first week of school. One of the first persons I met was Harriet. I remember her as being so kind and explaining where everything was. I'll remember her as always having a smile on her face. She was one of only a few female students in the class. She had an excellent legal career. RIP”
