James Emile Llorence Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Emile Llorence (Southfield, Michigan), born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on August 1, 2023, at the age of 62, leaving to mourn family and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8th 2023 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the St Augustine Catholic Church (2262 Louisiana 484, Natchez, Louisiana 71456). A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 8th 2023 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
James Emile Llorence, Jr. was born on August 23, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois to the late James Emile “Sonny” and Florence Morgan Llorence. He was the oldest of four children. His brothers Louis Edgar, Sr., Bryant Keith and sister Florence Anne, all preceded him in death. Although christened with the name James, he was affectionately known as “Jimmy” by close family members and “Jim” by co-workers. Jimmy’s favorite name was “Creole,” the riding name he chose when he joined the Michigan Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club. Jimmy had his first communion and confirmation at St. August Catholic Church while he was a student at St. Anthony and St. Matthew respectively.
Jimmy married Pamela Kaye Combest at Asbury United Methodist Church in Natchitoches, LA on July 2, 1983. The priest from Holy Cross Catholic Church read the scripture and blessed the union. After the marriage, the couple moved to Metro Detroit, Michigan where they were blessed with two sons: Christopher James and Jeremy Joseph. The family worshipped at Conant Avenue United Methodist Church where Jimmy served as Treasurer, but also worshipped at many Catholic churches over the years. His very last request before his transition was for his funeral service and burial to be at the church that raised him.
Jimmy attended the Natchitoches Trade School and Northwestern State University after his graduation from St. Matthew High School. He managed fast food restaurants and shoe stores until he moved to the automotive industry like most Detroiters. He worked as the service manager or fixed operations manager of many dealerships before he moved to an account manager role at Solera. He worked in this position until his transition.
Jimmy loved being a Buffalo Soldier. He had many hobbies, but long motorcycle rides with his friends were his favorite. He nicknamed his Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic “Cayenne.” He managed to accrue sixty thousand miles from 2015 through 2020 even though the Michigan riding season is only four months long.
As much as he loved motorcycle riding, his first love after God was his very large family. He often entertained his wife and children with stories about growing up on the turnrow. He loved his aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as the family he gained through marriage. He was a kind and generous spirit and an excellent husband and father.
Jimmy made his final journey after a three-year battle with Advanced Prostate Cancer. He was at home and surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife Pamela, two sons: Christopher and Jeremy, two daughters-in-law: Shawntay and Carolyn; two granddaughters: Faith Elizabeth and Jubilee Marie, and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
