He was predeceased by: his sister Bonnie; his brother-in-law Robert Weinstein; and his parents, Allan Schmier and Deborah Schmier. He is survived by: his wife Ilana Schmier; his daughters, Katharine Schmier and Deborah Isdaner (Remy); his grandchildren, Harper and Asher Isdaner; and his brother David Schmier.
