He was predeceased by: his parents, David Rankin and Essie Mae Ellis Rankin; his stepmother Annie Ellis Rankin; and his siblings, Genett, Eva Lee, Jean, Vivian, Eloise Rankin White, Powell, John, Theodore and David.
He is survived by: his wife Peggye Wood Rankin; his brother Reverend James Henry Rankin (Mary Emma) of Salisbury, NC.; his sisters-in-law, Thelma Rankin of Detroit, MI, Virginia Rankin of Brooklyn, NY, Mary Wood of Peoria, AZ, Jackie Wood of Atlanta, GA and Julie Wood of Detroit, MI; and his nieces and nephews, Dana Rankin of Southfield, MI, Rohemia Stringer (George) of Detroit, MI, Wayne Rankin (Jacqueline) of Cornelius, NC and Gilbert (Angela) of Mooresville, NC.
