He is survived by: his wife Carol of Springport; his children, Sarah, Anne of Ann Arbor and RJ Spanninga; his grandchildren, Skylar and Ronin Spanninga; his siblings, Sandra Hildenbrand of Battle Creek, Don Spanninga and Gary Bekkering (Jane); and his nephews, Chris Spanninga (Caroline), Paul Spanninga, Eric Ware (Christy) and Brian Ware.
