Clarence James Potts Obituary
Clarence James "Jim" Potts passed away on October 8th, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born January 31st, 1939, in Standish, Michigan, Jim lived a life filled with laughter, love, and the kind of personality that made people feel instantly welcome. He was outgoing, funny, and quick-witted, with a gift for the perfectly timed one-liner and a way of bringing a smile to nearly any room he entered. Everyone who had the privilege of crossing his path seemed to walk away with a story, a laugh, or a fond memory.
Jim cherished the time he spent with those he loved most. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, going on snowmobile trips, spending time at the hunting cabin, taking Kubota rides, and making treasured memories with his family on St. Pete Beach. These meaningful moments brought him great happiness and reflected what mattered most to him, being together with the people he loved. His humor, warmth, and devotion to family created memories that will forever be a treasured part of his legacy.
Jim was also known for his remarkable work ethic and steady commitment to providing for his family. For many years, he ran the family farm while also working at General Motors. He went on to bring that same dedication and gift for connecting with people to his work as a car salesman for Wiltse/Richardson's auto dealership. He continued working until his final retirement at age 76.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Betty Potts; his children, Clinton (Diane) Potts, Kathy (Rod) Collier, Doc (Lyn) Potts, and Kelli (Ed) LaPlant; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ann Marie Borushko.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Potts, and his brothers, Bob Potts and Donald Potts.
Though his presence will be dearly missed, he leaves a legacy behind that will remain forever in the hearts of all who loved him.
Funeral service will be held Monday October 12, 2026, at The Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church at 11:00am in Standish Michigan with Fr. David Parsch presiding.
