Edith Bernadine LaLonde Obituary

Edith Bernadine LaLonde, affectionately known as Cookie, passed away on September 17, 2026, in Standish, Michigan, at the age of 95.

Cookie was born on January 14, 1931, in Adams Township, Arenac County, Michigan, to Bernard and Anna Luella (Bryan) Cook.

Cookie is survived by her children, Dr. Janet Sutton and her partner Umberto, Dennis LaLonde and his wife Nancy, Connie Whittum and her husband Keith, and Kim Stodolak. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan LaLonde, Scott LaLonde, Meghan Thornton, Breanna Morton, Brent Stodolak, Kayla Brown, and Aaron Stodolak, along with 10 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Karen Cook. Her family was the center of her life, and she took great pride in each generation that followed her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Anna Cook, her husband, Donald LaLonde, her son, Donald Lee, and her siblings, Harold Fox, Oleda (Fox) Tilley, Joseph Cook, Ione Cash, and Lois (Cook) Guthrie.

Cookie's life was one of devotion, grace, and quiet strength. She lived with a generous heart and a welcoming spirit, and she touched the lives of many through her kindness and steadfast presence. Her legacy will live on in the family she cherished, the students she taught, and the many friends who were blessed to know her. She will be remembered always with love and gratitude.

Funeral services for Edith will be held on Saturday September 26, 2026, at 11:00am at the Lee Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel with Yvette Chisolm presiding. Friends are invited to visit with family on Friday September 25, 2026, at the Lee Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel from 1:00pm to 7:00pm and on the day of the funeral service from 10:00am until the time of service.
