Gerald Thomas Coupie Obituary
Gerald Thomas Coupie (Coup) was born May 20, 1948. He went to join his son in heaven on December 4, 2025 after a brief illness. Gerald married the love of his life Barbara (Helka) Coupie in 1985 and shared 40 years of marriage. She survives him. Coup was a Combat Engineer that swept for mines in the Army 101st Airborne Division from 1967-1969. He retired from AP Part/Northern Tube in Pinconning after 33 Years.
If you knew Coup, he was quite the character quite the ladies' man. He never met a person that did not become a friend. Coup was an avid Harley man. He spent many years working on Harleys, which was one of the great joys in his life. He knew everything about Harley-Davidson and of course about Jack Daniel's! Coup was also known as Dusty Hill from ZZ Top (not Santa Claus) and signed many autographs in his lifetime. Coup was also the best Papa in the world. Coup and his birthday twin granddaughter shared a bond that was amazing. That bond was there with his grandson which was his garage buddy. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Barbara, his daughter's Tina (Tommy) DeBolt, Jamie (Brad Dixon) Coupie, Michelle (Ed) Ganley, his grandchildren Anthony (Avery Nelson) DeBolt, and Brooke (Lance View) DeBolt and Liv Ganley. Coup is also survived by many other family members and many life time friends going all the way back to high school. Those who knew him will miss their phone lighting up with a call from "Coup" Thank you Select Specialty Hospital for the great care Coup received and for the Honor Walk for his military service.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 2 pm from the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Standish Chapel with Yvette Chisholm presiding with burial to follow at Sterling Cemetery with military funeral honors. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday, from 10 am until time of service. Per Coup's request everyone please dress casually.
