Guy Ingersoll Obituary
Augustus "Guy" Ingersoll, known to family and friends simply as Guy, passed away on May 19, 2026, at his daughter's home in Standish, surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years old. Guy was born on May 27, 1941, in Addison, Michigan, to the late Lawrence and Marie (Mills) Ingersoll.
Guy lived a life marked by devotion to his family, steady work, and a warm personality that drew others to him. He was a friendly and interesting man who enjoyed conversation, laughter, and the simple pleasures of life. Those who knew him will remember his easygoing nature, his sense of humor, and the way he made others feel welcome. He carried himself with quiet strength and left a lasting impression on the many people whose lives he touched.
Guy attended T. L. Handy High School and was a member of the Class of 1959. After his schooling, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. His service reflected his sense of duty and commitment, qualities that remained with him throughout his life. Following his military service, he worked at Saginaw Steering Gear, where he was known as a dependable and hardworking employee.
Family was the center of Guy's life. He is survived by his wife, the former Judith Broom, and by his children, Terrence, Michael, Timothy, Richard, Augustus Jr., Sarah, Ivan Ingersol, Brian Broom, and Carrie Shoulders. He, was blessed with a large and loving family that included 67 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Guy also leaves behind his siblings, Dorr and George Ingersoll. He, was preceded in death by his son, Arnold Ingersoll and his sisters Mary Lester and Evelyn Gotts.
Guy found joy in the things that made life rich and memorable. He enjoyed listening to old rock music, especially Bruce Springsteen, and he loved working on classic cars. Dancing was another of his favorite pastimes, and he embraced it with the same spirit and energy that he brought to so many parts of his life. These interests reflected his appreciation for good music, craftsmanship, and the joy of being with others.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his steady presence, and the love he shared so freely with his family. Guy's life was one of hard work, service, and devotion, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, the legacy he leaves behind is one of family, friendship, and enduring love.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30th at 5:00 PM at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish. Family will greet friends starting at 1:00 PM until time of service.
