Michael John Bashaw Obituary
Micheal John Bashaw, known affectionately to family and friends as Mike, passed away on April 4, 2026, at the age of 51.
Born on March 29, 1975, in Lansing, Michigan, he lived a life marked by kindness, loyalty, and a genuine care for the people around him. He was a thoughtful, kind, and passionate man whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to those who knew him.
Mike was the son of Leonard and Cathy (Lees) Bashaw and grew up surrounded by the love and guidance of his family. He shared an especially close bond with his father, Leonard, and the two were often described as being like "two peas in a pod.". That connection remained one of the defining relationships of his life and was a source of comfort, laughter, and shared understanding. Mike carried the values of his family with him throughout his life, and those who knew him will remember the strength of his character and the sincerity of his heart.
He attended Perry High School and graduated in 1994. Following his high school years, Mike continued his education at Trucking School, preparing for the work that would become an important part of his life. He later worked as a truck driver for Dutch Maid from July 27, 2010, until January 20, 2015, a role that suited his dependable nature and strong work ethic. He took pride in his work and approached it with the same steady commitment that he brought to all areas of his life.
Outside of work, Mike enjoyed the simple pleasures that made him happiest. He loved motorcycles and found joy in the freedom and excitement of riding. He also enjoyed spending time on his golf cart, riding around and taking in the world at his own pace. These interests reflected the easygoing spirit that many admired in him. Whether he was out on the open road or enjoying a quiet ride close to home, Mike appreciated the moments that allowed him to feel connected to life and to the people he loved.
Mike is survived by his mother Cathy Bashaw, sister Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bashaw, his brother, Matthew "Matt" Bashaw, and his nephew, Reece Bashaw. He also leaves behind many family and friends who will remember him with love and gratitude for the time they shared. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Bashaw, and his beloved dog, Snoopy, both of whom held a special place in his heart.
Those who knew Mike will remember him as a man who was thoughtful in his words, kind in his actions, and passionate in the way he lived. He had a quiet strength and a caring nature that made others feel valued and understood. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories of his smile, his steady presence, and the love he gave so freely. Though his passing leaves a deep sadness, his life remains a lasting example of devotion, sincerity, and the importance of treasuring the people and moments that matter most.
Visitation will take place on Saturday April 18, 2026, from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish.
