He was predeceased by : his parents, Nelson Shaffer and Velda Shaffer (Brown); and his daughter Christy. He is survived by : his wife Fern; his sons, Carl L. A. Shaffer of Gowen and Anthony Shaffer of Gowen; and his stepchildren, Pamela Berzley of Stanton, Sharon Howell of Stanton, Bruce Palmer (Elena) of Kendallville, Lewis Palmer (Cyndy) of Duluth, Georgia and Vince Palmer (Jill Comer) of Stanton.
