He was predeceased by: his parents, Vando Virgil Sr. and Margaret Louise Bennett (Grider); his son Richie Benett; his grandchildren, Tristan Benett and Faith Gaston; and his brother Wes Bennett.

He is survived by: his wife Christine "Chris" Bennett (Rinaldi); his children, Scott Bennett, Katy Farmer and Erika Gaston; his stepchildren, Megan Gasparovic, Lizzie Arcus and Michael Dombrowski; and his grandchildren, Veronica Bennett, Autumn Bennett, Trinity Patric, Amara Patric, Trinity Bennett, Skylynn Gaston, Winter Gasparovic, Leon Gasparovic, Miles Farmer and Dashiell Arcus.

Memorial contributions may be made in Virgil's name to Peace Lutheran Church.
