He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Carpenter and Virginia Carpenter (Barker); and his brothers, Nick Carpenter and David Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Dianna (Patrick); his daughters, Jennifer Duncan (Robert) of Gregory and Andrea Barrett (Chris) of Dexter; his grandchildren, Jacob, Liam, Avery and Caleb; his great grandchildren, Mason and Callan; his siblings, Vickey Brown (Wally) of Holt and Jeff Carpenter (Kim) of Stockbridge; and his sister-in-law Diane Carpenter of Stockbridge.
