He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius C. "Judy" Mecklenburg and Evelyn F. Mecklenburg (Free); his grandson Jeffrey Mecklenburg; and his sisters, Karen Rowe and Diane Mecklenburg.
He is survived by: his wife Erma E. Scare; his children, Cathy Knapp (Kim) of Sturgis, Michael Mecklenburg (Patty) of St. Louis and Bryan Mecklenburg (Kristin) of Hudsonville; and his grandchildren, Audrey (Christian), Rachel (Matt), Julianne, Tara (Bret), Jack, Tia, Serena (Taylor) and Erin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
