He was predeceased by: his parents, Mark Kenneth and Myrtle Clay (Hamman). He is survived by: his wife Kathie Clay of Sturgis; his children, Amanda Gess (Cary) of Berrien Springs, Heather Clay of Sturgis and Nicholas Clay (Kimberly) of Sturgis; and his grandchildren, Ixac Gess, Annabelle Gess, Dana Clay and Nicholas Clay Jr.. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
