Cory Ann (Matson) O’Donnel Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Cory Ann (Matson) O’Donnel (Taylor, MI) leaving to mourn family and friends.
Ms. Cory Ann O’Donnel was born prematurely on October 10, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan. At an early age she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, and was raised alongside her many cousins by her mother and aunts & uncles. She was never treated differently, which helped her become a very independent woman. When she was 4.5 years old her mom, Irene Carroll married Carl Walker and nine months later she became a big sister to Denise. And the following year a big sister to Matthew. Both of whom she loved dearly. She married in 1971, Harold O’Donnel and had two daughters Angela and Kathy. They divorced in 1997, but remained friends until his death in 2017.
Cory Ann was an unique character! She was a loud, loving, honest, fun loving woman. She loved to sing Happy Birthday, even though she couldn’t carry a tune! She loved her coffee clutching days. She was a great cook, but NOT a baker!!
She peacefully departed this life Friday, July 16, 2021 at Beaumont Taylor Medical Center in Taylor, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl S. Walker and mother Irene L. Walker.
Her life will forever be remembered by her daughters: Angela (Edward) Busch of Taylor, MI and Kathy O’Donnel of Lincoln Park, MI. Five grandchildren: Ayla (Elexies Willingham) Busch of Wayne, MI, Allia (Blake) Flynn of Westland, MI, Ashley & Avery Busch both of Taylor MI and Evan O’Donnel of Lincoln Park, MI. Five Great-Grandchildren; Theo and Abigail Flynn, Elexies III, Elexià, and J’Ayla Willingham. Sister; Denise Walker and brother Matthew (Kathy) Walker all of Lapeer, MI.
Many nephews and nieces and countless cousins. Along with her very best friend of 48 years, Debra Fabrizio.
Cremation services were done by Generations Funeral Home.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 14th 2021 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the home of Angie 14760 Cornell St (14760 Cornell Street, Taylor, Michigan 48180).
