He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Downey and Antonia Downey; and his siblings, James Downey (late Carmella), Joe Downey, Catherine Shubitowski (late Bernard), Jerome Downey (Shirley), Patricia Avery (late Dale), Michael Downey and Mark Downey (Jean).
He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Downey; his children, Dean Downey (Lynette) and Denise Urbanowski (Tom); and his grandchildren, Daniel, Monica (James), John (Colleen), Ben (Anita), April, Elowen, Isabel, Teddy, Elise and Gus.
