He was predeceased by: his parents, Harmon Mitchell and Frankie Mitchell; and his daughter Tina Wright. He is survived by: his wife Glenda Mitchell; his daughters, Katrina Mitchell and Lisa Polly (Brian); his siblings, Thurman, William, Phillip, Harmon Jr., Elsie Hamilton and Brenda Paige; his grandchildren, Michael Wright (Lacey), Aaron Polly and Lauren Polly; and his great grandchildren, Alexis, Michael Jr. and Riley.
