He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Pencil and Beatrice Pencil (McAfee); and his siblings, Janet Ray, Judith Hoberty, Lee Pencil and Kathleen Clark.
He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline L. Kohn; his daughter Julie Pencil; and his sisters, Linda Chaffee and Nola Pencil.
