He was predeceased by: his wife Julia "Juliette" Berning (Wolinski); his son Gregory J. Berning, Sr.; and his parents, Ethel Berning (Younghans) and Sylvester Berning of Toledo's South End. He is survived by: his sisters, Barbara and Brig; his children, Audrey Berning-Matell (late Matthew), Frederick Berning, Jr., Michael Berning (Joanna Lee), Helen Davis (late Roger), Diane Haupricht (A. Thomas), Juliette Schaefer (Daniel), Eric Berning (Jennifer Wolcott) and Louise Maxwell (Michael); his grandchildren, Heather Lauth (Aaron), Zachary Matell (Stacey), Alan Berning, Paul Berning, Robert Davis (late Katrina), Robyn Davis, Raymond Davis, Alexandra Jannetta (Nikolas), Gregory Berning, Jr. (Bailey), Franklin Berning, Thaddeus Berning, Samantha Berning, Edward Berning, Jacob Maxwell and Joshua Maxwell; and his great grandchildren, Ericka Lauth, Frederick Lauth, Maxwell Matell, Miles Matell, Gregory Davis, Anastasia Davis, Joseph Davis, Victoria Davis, Alexander Jannetta, Theodoros Jannetta, Juliana Jannetta, Julia Berning, Isaiah Berning and Ryder Berning. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
