He was predeceased by: his parents, Erwin Walter and Joanne Walter (Helmboldt); and his sister Ingrid Springer. He is survived by: his wife Ellie (Kneup); his children, Jeffrey Walter (Carrie), Thomas Walter (Cheryl) and Jacqueline Bonyko (Blake); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Walter, Jeffrey Walter II, Lindsay Jordan (Ben), Mallory Walter, Natalie Cooper (Nick), Kevin Nelson, Christopher Nelson, Thomas Nelson, Connor Nelson, Madeline Kaplan (Ethan) and Kevin Bonyko; his great grandchildren, Natalee, Violet Cooper and Nora Jordan; and his brother Lothar Walter.

Memorial donations may be given to St. Francis de Sales High School or Notre Dame Academy, Toledo.
