He was predeceased by: his brothers, Norman and Charles Gearhart. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Gearhart (Jones); his sons, Mark Gearhart (Lorie) and Todd Gearhart (Julie); his grandchildren, Laura, Hannah, Abigail, Tyler and John; and his great grandchildren, Wesley, James, Jenna and Penny.

Donations in Richard's memory may be directed to Three Rivers Hospice, St. Joseph County Animal Rescue Fund, or Flowerfield Missionary Baptist Church.
