He was predeceased by : his parents, Armond Schmuckal and Eleanor Schmuckal; his sister Geraldine Sailus (Bob); and his close friend Bill Baynton. He is survived by : his wife Chari Lynne Schmuckal; his children, Brian Schmuckal (Heather) of Kingsley and Angela Swegles (Jonathan) of Traverse City; his grandchildren, Eva, Troy, Clayton Schmuckal, Hayes and Whittaker Swegles; his brother Allan Schmuckal (Barb); and also Lucy Lu. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, April 30th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A rosary was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home (305 Sixth St, Traverse City, MI 49684). A Mass was held on Tuesday, April 30th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the St. Mary Hannah Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Hannah General Fund.
