He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Fred and Irene Fred; his brothers, Dr. Stephen Fred and Dr. Richard Fred; his niece Toni Fred; and his siblings-in-law, Dean and Suzy Ringsmuth (Wilkinson).
He is survived by: his children, David Jeremy Fred and Ellen Aubrey Fred; his wife Jane; his granddaughter Evelyn Aubrey Martel; and his brother-in-law Thomas Wilkinson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church (1050 Peninsula Dr, Traverse City, MI 49686). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Mission Endowment Fund, and Boardman River Clean Sweep.
