He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Smith and Reba Smith; and his siblings, Betty Newhouse, Wayne Smith, Stanley Smith, Harold Smith and Ron Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Rosalyn Mowery of Atlanta; his former wife Linda Walther Stickler; his daughter Tiffany; his family Tiffany Rose Smith; and his sisters, Katherine Sherman (Jerry) of Burton and Barbie Oard of Attica, Michigan.. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family requests a donation to the American Lung Association (lung.org) in lieu of flowers.
