It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gertha Toivonen of Troy, Michigan, who passed away on April 7, 2024, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Gunnar Steindorsson and Gunnlaug Jonsdottir; her husband John; and her sisters, Gudrun and Kolfinna.

She is survived by : her daughters, Kristin Pennycook (Ron Stephens) and Karla Toivonen-Bole (Mark Bole); her grandchildren, Kourtney Pennycook, Paige Trush (Shaun), Katlin Bole (Samuel Hillebrand) and Dylan Bole; her great grandchildren, Beckett and Elliott Trush; and her siblings, Valgerdur Schultz and Steindor Gunnarsson.
